Our in-house development F-500 Encapsulator Agent is a highly concentrated liquid extinguishing agent additive. It is multi-functional and effectively fights Class A and B fires as well as sub-areas of Class C, D and F fires. F-500 owes its optimal performance to its basis of cooling effect, wetting agent effect and encapsulation in micelles.

Customers from the USA, Canada, Australia and Great Britain have relied on our innovative extinguishing agent additive since 1997. The Italian Navy also uses the F-500 Encapsulator Agent as a standard agent in firefighting. Since 2008, the additive has also been winning over public and plant fire departments as well as large companies in Germany.

The innovative, environmentally friendly and reliable multifunctional extinguishing agent in fire fighting of today and tomorrow. Through Encapsulator Technology, the innovative multifunctional extinguishing agent additive F-500 EA has special properties that enable it to extinguish fires of fire classes A, B and partial areas of fire classes C, D and F, and is currently the effective extinguishing agent for lithium-ion battery fires.

The F-500 EA Technology can be used in stationary extinguishing systems and via existing mobile extinguishing equipment of the fire department. The application technique here is an aggressive extinguishing attack for fire class A, and an aggressive dynamic jet pipe guidance by means of spray jet and circling movements of the jet pipe for fire class B. The extinguishing agent can be used in stationary extinguishing systems or via existing mobile extinguishing systems. The extinguishing agent is added as required at a rate of 0.1 to 3 % via pressure proportioning systems or flow rate-dependent proportioners.

The operating principle

The active principle: How the F-500 technology works

The F-500 Encapsulator Agent is a surfactant. It consists of molecules with a polar (hydrophilic) and a non-polar (hydrophobic) portion. This special composition ensures that the extinguishing agent additive fights fires extremely effectively and efficiently. In detail, the following factors play an important role in this:

Encapsulation: the formation of micelles means that a large number of liquid, gaseous and solid substances are intensively mixed and encapsulated.
As a result, they are no longer flammable in the long term.
Reduction of surface tension: The larger surface area ensures that surface tension is reduced and substances evaporate at temperatures as low as 70°C.
Interfacial activity: Due to the wetting agent effect, the extinguishing agent additive penetrates deep into the burning substance and existing cavities.
Rapid heat reduction: Evaporation starts at a temperature of 70°C already. The flammable substances cool down below the ignition temperature.

Furthermore, the F-500 Encapsulator Agent consumes only a small amount of extinguishing water. On the one hand, this minimizes collateral damage, and on the other hand, extinguishing traces can be removed with far less effort than when using a powder extinguishing agent.

The safety of the F-500 Encapsulator Agent is also guaranteed by its official approval for the European market by the MPA Dresden in accordance with DIN EN2 for fire classes A and B (approval number SP83/03). The extinguishing agent additive is compliant with the EU REACH regulation.

Suistainability

The F-500 Technology is environmentally friendly

The F-500 Encapsulator Agent was already ecotoxicologically tested in 2005. The detailed results can be found in the download area. In summary, the extinguishing agent additive does not harm the environment or humans due to the following properties:

Fluorine-free and ecocompatible
No mutagenic, carcinogenic or mutagenic substances
No persistent organic pollutants (POPs)
Not bioaccumulative
Rapidly biodegradable
Can be used without residues

In addition, very little extinguishing agent is required per application, with admixture rates ranging from 0.25 to 6 %, depending on the application. Furthermore, F-500 Encapsulator Agent is not a hazardous waste according to EU Directives 1999/45/EC and 67/548/EEC and is rated as readily degradable according to OECD criteria.
